"The True Meaning of Christmas"

Cebu Biker's first Ride for a Cause Outreach Program

Cebu Biker's very first successful Outreach Program

What if Christmas doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?
- Dr. Seuss

And Christmas does mean a little bit more for the riders in Cebu Bikers.com online community. Last Sunday, December 7, we pushed through with our Ride for a Cause amidst the rain, bad weather conditions and the Pacquiao - De la Hoya match. For us it meant going the extra miles away from the comfort of our homes and the TV and realizing our commitment to "do this for the kids, rain or shine."

The Kids

We were never disappointed. A group of 25 bikers gathered in the assembly area as early as 6AM. The plan was to depart at 7AM but because of the weather, we decided to postpone it for another 3 hours. More and more bikers came, soaked in the rain, with wide grins on their faces. The sun was never seen in the skies but you only have to look in their smiles and feel their attitude to know it's still a sunny day. Finally at 10AM, eventhough there was still a drizzle we gave it a go. We rode from Synergis Bldg, Panagdait - Ayala Road - Gorordo Ave - Mange Ave, Fuente, B.Rodriguez - Basak - Minglanilla - Naga - Toledo. Our Final stop was in Lutopan where we met the kids in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

GiftsThe riders busied themselves mingling with the kids (there were 64 of them, the others left because of the rain), preparing the giveaways and the snacks. Alex and Zee facilitated the games. All in all it was a very rewarding experience. We can never forget the smiles on the childrens' faces, their joy in every game they won and the gratitude they expressed when we left. We were very grateful to them also for giving us this opportunity to experience Christmas with them, sharing in their warmth and joy while doing something that we greatly enjoy - RIDES. Indeed, Christmas is more than just the gifts from the store. It's all about sharing what little we have, and being grateful for friends, family and the blessings we received.

In behalf of the CebuBikers community we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who shared: our major sponsor Valvoline, the anonymous donors, GMA and DexterFly for the media coverage help, our Admin Jose Mari "Jingz" Sato, and Cyril JOseph "Zee" Navarro for sharing their time and effort in facilitating this event.

And of course to all the RIDERS filled with zeal and dedication who participated and braved the rains and cold:
